A Yamhill County Circuit Court judge has revoked the pretrial release of Paul Brenton Bachand, ordered the forfeiture of previously posted bail, and authorized an arrest warrant after finding that Bachand violated conditions of his release in a pending felony criminal case.

According to court orders filed December 23, the court granted the state’s motion to revoke Bachand’s release agreement, ordered that a warrant issue for his arrest, and set new bail at $200,000. In a separate order, the court also declared that the entire $15,000 security deposit previously posted on Bachand’s behalf is forfeited to the State of Oregon.

Court records indicate the December 23 proceeding was a contested hearing related to an alleged violation of Bachand’s release conditions. The Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office sought revocation following reports that Bachand failed to comply with terms imposed by the court of no unsupervised internet usage.

Back in Custody

Jail records confirm that Bachand was taken back into custody on December 23, 2025, the same day the court issued its revocation order. He was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on a charge of punitive contempt of court, which jail records list as pending.

As of this publication date, Bachand remains in custody, with bail set at $200,000, pending further court proceedings.

In addition to the contempt charge, jail records continue to list the underlying felony and misdemeanor charges previously filed against Bachand as pending.

Background of the Case

Bachand was arrested earlier this fall following a secret indictment returned by a Yamhill County Grand Jury. The indictment, which was initially filed under seal and later unsealed following his arrest, charges Bachand with thirteen total counts.

Those charges include eleven counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, one count of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, and one misdemeanor count of Encouraging Sexual Assault of an Animal, according to court records.

The charges allege conduct occurring between 2019 and 2024 and involve male and female minors. The indictment does not identify victims by name, and no graphic details are included in the publicly released charging documents.

These are allegations only. Bachand has entered not guilty pleas to the charges, and under Oregon law, he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Prior Court Proceedings

Following his initial arrest, Bachand appeared in Yamhill County Circuit Court for arraignment and was released on security under specific conditions set by the court. Those conditions were later amended.

The state subsequently filed a motion seeking revocation of Bachand’s release based on alleged violations. While an earlier motion had been denied, the court’s December 23 order reflects a change in the court’s determination after further proceedings.

In addition to revoking release, the court issued a Notice of Security Forfeiture, warning that judgment would be entered awarding the full amount of the posted security to the state due to noncompliance with release conditions.

What Comes Next

According to the court docket, the case remains active. A trial readiness hearing is scheduled for April 7, 2026, followed by a jury trial currently set to begin April 14, 2026, before Judge Jennifer Chapman.

Yamhill County News will continue to monitor court records and report on developments as proceedings move forward.
